Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique. The predominate form of reiki practiced throughout the world today, also known as Usui reiki, was created by Dr. Mikao Usui in the early 20th century. It’s a complementary or alternative health approach. Reiki does not directly cure diseases or illnesses. Instead, it’s used as a way to manage symptoms and improve general well-being.
A list of benefits from reiki sessions is provided below:
1. Helps you sleep better
You can almost always expect to feel relaxed during and after a session. By allowing the body to reach a state of relaxation, it is then when the patient can have a better nights sleep. It is not uncommon for a patient to fall asleep during a session.
2. Relaxes and releases tension in the body
What many people love about reiki is the ability to relax an individual, without any side effects. Within a couple of minutes during a session, the patient can feel a sense of relaxation.
3. Improves focus and clears the mind
Reiki principles are to be in the present moment. As individuals may suffer from anxiety and depression. This is usually due to constant worry of the future, and constant comparison which results to feeling depressed. When a patient is receiving reiki, they are reminded to focus on the present moment, concluding them to focus on relaxing.
4. Boosts mood
Reiki may help to improve your mood by relieving anxiety and depression. According to results from a study in 2011, people who had reiki felt greater mood benefits compared to people who didn’t have reiki. The study participants who had six 30-minute sessions over a period of two to eight weeks showed improvements in their mood. (According the healthline.com)

In conclusion, reiki has the potential to bring many positive benefits to your overall well-being. It's also up to the recipient to accept this energy and process whatever their problem is, in order to shift that energy.
Always speak to your doctor if you plan to use reiki to help with any medical condition. Remember that reiki is a complementary therapy and should be used alongside a conventional treatment plan. You may also use it alongside other complementary treatments such as acupuncture, massage, counseling and much more.
Reiki practitioners/healers do not diagnose conditions, nor do they prescribe substances or perform medical treatment, nor interfere with the treatment of a licensed medical professional.
